THE PHYNDING

The Phynding is Melbourne based duo Greg Hunt and Cyril Moran.

They have been part of the Melbourne music scene for the past decades playing pubs, clubs, festivals and just about any conceivable gig possible.

The Phynding E.P is the debut project release from Greg and Cyril a musical collaboration of original songs and tunes drawing on their learnings along the way.

The debut E.P features three tracks which showcase a taster of The Phynding.

Late December with Cyril on vocals is about a chance encounter with a gypsy soul on a night in late December, gives light to reflect on how a stranger can emerge from the crowd and touch your life through their fleeting connection. Lyrics to Late December are included in the 4 page booklet inserted in this release.

Bourke St – This piece journeys through a typical day in Melbourne’s Bourke St Mall, from the break of dawn where street cleaners and early bird workers enjoy some quiet time, to the gradual build of the bustle and business, to the exodus at the end of the day.  If you listen carefully you can hear the warning bells of a tram and the peeling of church bells.

Staggering Set – A Celtic inspired original instrumental collection of tunes, these melodies all have some kind of ‘twist or turn’ in their structure, hence cresting the sense of a stagger or mis-step. The last tune is a fun melody depicting a pub goer walking or staggering home, after maybe a little too much celebrating at the bar.
